Residents in Pakistan's northwestern Swat valley are living in fear of armed Talibans campaigning against the government. Despite the presence of thousands of troops, the Taliban remains firmly in control of Swat in Pakistan's northwest. Policemen and common people have been beheaded in the streets, men lashed and schools burnt down under Taliban justice. Some 400 private schools enrolling 40,000 girls have been shut down
In this report it says that Pakistan paid taliban 6 million dollars to ensure peace in the SWAT valley. it also states that the talibans have demanded that the army checkposts to be rmoved from the area and that there shud not be any paki army left in the region.
