ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, April 3 (UPI) --
A video made in the Swat Valley in Pakistan appears to show a girl or young woman flogged by Taliban militants, The Times of London reported.
Local reporters told the Times the 17-year-old girl was condemned to a beating for adultery. But they suggested that the local Taliban commander was actually angry because she refused to marry him.
In the grainy video, one man holds the girl down while another beats her. The man doing the beating criticizes the other for not holding her tight enough, allowing her to use her hands to try to protect herself from the blows.
The girl, speaking Pashtu, cries: "Please, enough, enough. I am repenting, my father is repenting what I have done, my grandmother is repenting what I have done."
President Asif Ali Zardari recently reached an agreement with Taliban in the Swat Valley that allows the use of Sharia law. Zardari says the agreement was made with moderates in the region.
