Residents in Pakistan's northwestern Swat valley are living in fear of armed Talibans campaigning against the government. Despite the presence of thousands of troops, the Taliban remains firmly in control of Swat in Pakistan's northwest. Policemen and common people have been beheaded in the streets, men lashed and schools burnt down under Taliban justice. Some 400 private schools enrolling 40,000 girls have been shut down

MINGORA: The ongoing talks between Swat Peace Committee and chief of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, Maulana Fazlullah have been completed.
Head of the committee has said the talks have been successful and that Maulana Fazlullah has assured of peace in the area.
