The unfortunate flogging of a teenage girl in Swat has created a very barbarous image of the Taliban. It could sabotage the peace process between the government and the Taliban in Swat and that is not in the country's interest.
One is not trying to justify Taliban's actions. They are very primitive and rigid in thoughts but what about the so-called elite and the feudal class of Pakistan who kill their daughters, wives or sisters in the name of honour killing. Incidents of atrocities against women are equally if not more rampant in Punjab as well as Sindh. So why blame Swat only?
